Christmas Songs for the Beginning Pianist

My youngest daughter needed some Christmas songs that she could play on the piano herself this year. Here’s what I came up with for her!

Each of the songs are incredibly easy to learn. None of the songs require the piano player to change hand positions. One song gets just the left hand practicing. One song works just the right hand. All the others use both hands, but keep things just right for someone starting out.

The included songs are:

*Deck the Halls
*Hark! the Herald Angels Sing
*If I Were an Angel on Christmas Night
*Jingle Bells *Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful
*Silent Night
*We Three Kings I included an .mp3 of We Three Kings in case your child isn’t familiar with that song.

Click here to purchase and download right now (all 7 songs for $1.49 ). If you would like to try before you buy, please try out this free sample song!

I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go Men's Trio

I wrote this arrangement on the spur of the moment when someone needed it in a hurry. We had 3 men and a piano available for a song and this is what I came up with. They performed it beautifully!

I also have a computerized audio recording of this song for ease of learning. You can listen to that here. It is the music only, no lyrics. So that you know what to expect, this is just a computerized audio recording. It isn’t done in a studio. All the tracks are computer generated. The sound is clear and you will be able to learn the song tune by listening to this mp3. Just don’t expect a spectacular studio produced sound, okay? :) Feel free to listen with this in mind!

If I Were an Angel on Christmas Night Video is Here!

This is THE cutest, most heart-melting Christmas music video EVER! Seriously, if this video doesn't play around with your heartstrings, I am Ebeneezer...Ebeneezer Scrooge, that is.

It was so enjoyable looking through all the cute, funny and adorable pictures I received. I hope you will agree that some of the pictures just fit perfectly with the lyrics with which they were placed.

Maximizing the youtube video will give you distorted scenes. I am working on a digital format available for downloading on your computer that will keep the integrity of the pictures.

If you would like a copy of this video as a DVD to play on your TV screen, or to give as a Christmas gift, please send an email to me at blog@completelee.com. I am working on putting this product in our webstore, so it will be available that way as soon as I get it figured out. In the meantime, email me to order your copies.

The DVD will cost $2.95 plus Shipping. If you order 10 DVD's, shipping is free in the continental USA. I will accept Paypal, Money Order, or check. If you send me a personal check, I won't ship the DVD until your check has cleared my bank.

Below is the picture that will be the insert on the DVD jewel case.

Click here to find more information on this song.

Please spread the word and share this post with friends and family that would enjoy these sweet little faces and the message of the song. Thank you!

Ye Have Done It Unto Me Song

This song combines the popular hymn "Love One Another" with a song I wrote entitled "Ye Have Done It Unto Me." The song lyrics draw heavily from Matthew 25:34-45 . That scripture really reveals how we are to love one another and because we love one another we are really loving the Lord. The song has two versions. One version is for all women, the other for a choir of SSATB. There is also an optional instrumental part--oboe or violin is nice.

You can also get a computerized audio recording of this song for ease of learning.

Angel Children Picture Contest for Music Video

I could really use your help! I’m looking for your adorable, sweet girl and “definitely a boy” pictures so that I can create a music video featuring my song “If I Were an Angel on Christmas Night”. The video will be put on www.youtube.com for your viewing pleasure as soon as it is ready.

I want a wide variety of pictures. Kids in their Sunday best, or climbing a tree, or playing in the mud, or creating art, or hugging a sibling, etc. If you can match a picture to any of the following snippets of lyrics, all the better!

From the little girl's verse:
"I would sing with the voice of a night-en-gale.
I would dress in my pret-ti-est white."

From the little boy's verse:
"I would wear some-thing 'spe-cial-ly bright.
I would run here and there..."

From the "all the kids" verses:
"We would laugh, we would sing, make some joy-ful noise."

Children in the pictures need to be under 10 years old (or appear to be). I am accepting pictures with groups of children as well as single pictures. Pictures may be subject to some editing.

Email your submissions and questions to music@completelee.com by October 18th. Please include your email address and last name in the body of the email and use “Angel pics” as your subject heading. Your pictures will only be used for the purposes of this contest, and will not be sold, sent to random people via email, used for an unrelated project, printed out and hung on my wall, or anything other than precisely what I outlined.

Whether or not your submission is chosen, you will be entered into a drawing to win prizes, including downloads and CD’s.

Anyway, I hope you have a picture or two to share with me. You are welcome to pass the info in this post along to friends/relatives too if you want. I need quite a few pictures. :)

Thanks for your help!

Preview Songs!

Fun, fun, fun! I have just created a YouTube account where you can preview some of my songs. My children sing the following four songs:

Amos 3:7 -- I put these and many more scriptures to music in order to encourage scripture memorization.
Mosiah 2:17
John 3:5
Grains, Fruits, Vegetables -- This is a fun little song about eating in a healthy manner. The kids had fun being silly with it.

Click on the links to see the songs on YouTube and to see sheet music. You can always go to www.completelee.com to find sheet music for all my songs.

I Believe in America

I be-lieve in A-mer-i-ca
Our land where truth and free-dom reign
I be-lieve in A-mer-i-ca
I'll stand be-hind her name

We see ci-ties that gleam with the shed-ding of tears.
We'll draw on the strength that's sus-tained through the years.
May we pledge to each o-ther this faith filled de-cree,
To let right-eous-ness dwell in the land of the free.
We'll cling to our fore-fa-thers' dream to pre-serve
All the rights and the liber-ties which we de-serve.

I be-lieve in A-mer-i-ca
Our land where truth and free-dom reign
I be-lieve in A-mer-i-ca
I'll stand be-hind her name

On the wings of the ea-gle, our pray-ers as-cend.
God bless hearts and souls of this na-tion to mend.
As we re-build our coun-try, through tri-als we'll trod.
May we lean on each o-ther, but look to our God.
When we all stand to-gether, and when faith re-stores-
We'll come forth from this tem-pest, stronger than be-fore.

I be-lieve in A-mer-i-ca
Our land where truth and free-dom reign
I be-lieve in A-mer-i-ca
I'll stand be-hind her name

Oh I be-lieve

I be-lieve in A-mer-i-ca
Our land where truth and free-dom reign
I be-lieve in A-mer-i-ca
I'll stand be-hind her name

I'll stand be-hind her name!

Updates

Silly me. So I create a blog to post updates and such and then I don't update anything. Here comes an update and I'll be updating a little more regularly now. Thanks!

On the sidebar, you will see that I have updated the music links. Just to highlight a few...

Munchkins & Music is an awesome site that promotes music education. She offers wonderful tips, tricks, and ideas to teach children about music in many ways. Worth checking out.

Choral Public Domain Library offers a myriad of works that you may download and use for your choir. No need to worry about copyrights because they are all public domain.

Ward Choir Music has simple hymn arrangements for free download.

The two free sheet music sites have links to many free sheet music sites. (surprise) The only drawback is that a lot of the links are no longer functional and some of the links take you places that are hard to navigate and some links I clicked on seemed to have no free music. [Okay, so there was more than one drawback.]

The Church music website has helps on how to conduct, easy to download hymns and songs that playback and transpose for you, and other educational material. There's also some free songs from the church music contest available.

Sally DeFord's
website has long been a ward choir conductor's favorite site. She has lots of original songs for free download.

If you click on Marika Lee's Music, that takes you directly to my music catalog where my music is sorted by subject and style.

I have been working on more hymn arrangements and scripture songs of late. I hope to have some more info on those posted soon. Talk to you soon!
